Speck MacBook Pro 17" Unibody Protective Shell

The translucent black smoke shell snaps on beautifully and offers perfect protection. The Apple logo has a subtle soft glow, but still very Mac. Access to all ports is not hampered in the slightest, and it adds virtually no weight. The finish is slightly "rubberized", but it does not catch on my laptop bag, or collect "dust or dirt". Great product to protect my MacBook Pro purchase.

I read reviews for this product before I bought it. I can't imagine anyone not being totally satisfied with it. Although I did not have a choice of colors, I am very happy with my black one. Even though it is black, the apple logo still shines through.
I like the feel of it, it is smooth, not like the hard shiny plastic.
I couldn't believe how easily it snapped on. Although it is rather expensive, I was pleased
that it could be purchased on Amazon.com for less than purchasing it through the Apple stores.

Bought this case for my husband for Christmas. He had been trying to get this case at the apple store and best buy for 6 months and they were always out. This was the cheapest site to get it on as well. It looks really good on his mac, and he was so happy to get it.

After my previous Macbook 17" died I took a good look at all the nicks, scratches and dings it had accumulated in its four year lifespan. I promised myself I wouldn't let that happen to the new MBP. Every other case I looked at was either too clunky, too thin, cheaply made, ugly, or designed for hipsters and high schoolers. Not appropriate for business use.
Enter the Speck. With a clean, sharp look that still garners attention from those who see the Apple logo glowing through the semi-translucent material, the Speck case fits my MBP like a glove. Snapping it on was a breeze. It hasn't fallen off or come loose once. It's kept my laptop safe from the every day "oops-es" that slowly accumulate on an unprotected computer.
The material has a nice tactile feel and is grippy enough that your laptop won't slide out of your hands like a hard case might when trudging to the kitchen for your morning jolt of caffeine. However, since it isn't a hard case, I expect it wouldn't protect as well should I drop the computer from a significant height onto a hard surface. I'm not about to test that theory out though :-D

I had read several reviews prior to ordering the speck laptop cover. While it sounded like what I wanted to use to protect my new laptop, I wasn't convinced until I received it. It is exactly what I wanted, and I'm very glad I ordered it. It was extremely simple to snap on and stays on with no trouble. It's made of two single pieces of hard plastic (one piece snaps on to the top of the laptop, and the other piece snaps on to the bottom of the laptop). I have not had any trouble with overheating - the vents in the bottom appear to work extremely well. I have no trouble plugging in accessories or inserting disks. The outside of the cover is texturized to feel a little like rubber, although it is made of hard plastic. The finely textured shell helps keep keep a better grip on my laptop, reducing potential of dropping it. The speck laptop case is a clear winner.
It looks and functions just like it is advertised to. I love mine and I'm certain you'll love yours too.
