Product Description
As a computer navi tool, the mouse has no peer in its simplicity and ease-of-use, but no matter how good something is, there's always room for improvement. Lasers, rather than a physical ball or optics, achieves pinpoint accuracy, giving you the finesse you need in fast-paced gaming, detailed photo manipulation and more. The scroll wheel has a tilt feature to make side-to-side scrolling just as easy as standard vertical scrolling. To read the fine print and see the intricacies of a digital photo, the Magnifier button is incredibly useful, acting like a magnifying glass held up to your monitor. 5 Customizable Buttons PC & Mac Compatible PC Operating System Requirements - Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Windows 2000 SP4 or higher Mac Operating System Requirements - Mac OS X v10.2-10.4.x (excluding Mac OS X v10.0-10.1) Requires a USB port for wireless transmitterSimilarProduct

Jet black and works as slick as it looks
by .. David B. Spalding (Chromejob-dot-com)
This is a bit different than the lopsided Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. This is balanced, rather like the Laser Mouse 6000 (corded), with one subtle improvement.
The Laser Mouse 6000 is shaped like the Comfort Mouse 3000 (which I also like), except for two thumb buttons on each side, presumably so you can use it left- or right-handed. But ... the right-side button on the Laser Mouse 6000 is useless for clicking with ... what, your pinky? This mouse, the Wireless Laser Mouse 5000, has the buttons on each side, but shifted back, and longer. So the right-side button (if you're right-handed) CAN be used. (In just a few minutes use, I started using it easily with my ring finger; your mileage may vary.)
Also, *unlike* the Laser Mouse 6000, this Wireless mouse has the tilt-scrolling wheel, that is, a two-axis scroll wheel for left-right scrolling; it's very handy in Excel, and other applications (Photoshop for instance), where North-South and East-West scrolling is a benefit.
The bottom of this mouse is a bit larger, like the other wireless Laser Mouse. It's a distinctive jet black color, with glossy black top piece, similar to the Laser Mouse 6000. In all, this one's a bargain, particularly for lefties, who were left high and dry by the right-handed Wireless Laser Mouse 6000.
Worth Every Penny!

I recently purchased this and it's wonderful. I didn't really think I would notice much of a difference in going from wired to wireless, but I do and it's much nicer. My favorite thing about this mouse is the shape. It's large enough to offer plenty of support and the contours make it easy to use the side buttons. I would highly recommend this.
Great Mouse

I just bought this mouse. I am not having the same issues as some of the other reviewers. I love it. It is my first wireless and I am really enjoying the freedom wireless gives you. The only complaint that I can think of, to be honest, are the side buttons. My old mouse (also a Microsoft) had bigger side buttons that were easier to operate. I am sure I'll adapt to the new buttons over time. Outside of that, if you're looking for a good wireless mouse for a decent price, I recommend the 5000 laser mouse.
Great Mouse-easy to set up & use

Not sure why others have a problem with this mouse. It was easy to install and easy to use. Works great. Love the magnifier button.
Excellent mouse

I really like this mouse - enough to buy a second one for my workshop computer. The basic mouse features are excellent. I'm used to 5 buttons (I set up left for "Back", right for "Exit"), and the aux buttons should be larger - the left one is easy to get with my thumb, but the right button I have to get with my ring finger knuckle, which will take getting used to. Still, that's better than both buttons on the same side. The scroll wheel has a good feel - slight detents and viscous damping to avoid overshoot. The side scroll is new to me and very nice for spreadsheets and large graphics. The wheel button has a good action and I like the default "Instant Viewer" which shows thumbnails of all open windows. No problems at all with the Wireless link and the laser tracks perfectly on my woodgrain Formica desk and my real plywood workbench.
It came with Intellipoint 6.4, which forced the right aux button to be "Magnify", but downloaded version 7.0 fixed that. I'm using Windows XP SP3.
BTW, I first tried Logitech's LX7, which was too small and had awkardly-placed aux buttons. The LX7 does have a much smaller receiver, so possibly I'll use it on a laptop - or maybe it'll R.I.P with the dozen or so other old mice in the basement corner pile.
